The Return of the Chevrolet COPO Camaro

The 2022 Chevrolet COPO Camaro is back and ready to conquer the drag strip. In the past, getting your hands on a COPO Camaro model wasn’t a straightforward purchase at Fiesta Chevrolet in Edinburg, Texas; you had to enter a lottery for the chance to win one of 69 models made. This time around, though, Chevy isn’t limiting production of the 2022 COPO Camaro. The sooner you reserve yours, though, the sooner you’ll get behind the wheel as Chevy is processing requests on a “first come, first served basis.”
What Is the Chevy COPO Camaro?
The 2022 Chevy COPO Camaro is a purpose-built drag racer, powered by a potent supercharged V8 engine that lays out 580 horsepower or a naturally aspirated V8 engine that cranks out 470 horsepower. Both engines are mated with an ATI Racing Productions TH400 three-speed automatic transmission.
Horsepower ratings have been verified by the NHRA. The 2022 COPO Camaro is so performance focused that it cannot legally be used for street use.
The COPO Camaro owes its power to the cast-iron block that houses four-bolt main caps, a forged steel crankshaft, forged aluminum pistons, forged steel connecting rods, and aluminum heads.
Standard features for the 2022 Chevrolet COPO Camaro include wheelie bars and a carbon fiber hood. You can add on features like a parachute and a trunk-mounted weight box.
