For the 2021 model year, Chevrolet changed the pickup truck game forever when the Bowtie Brand debuted the Multi-Flex Tailgate on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 light-duty pickup truck. Truck enthusiasts everywhere — including all of us in Edinburg, Texas, at Fiesta Chevrolet — were ecstatic.

But, heavy-duty truck drivers felt left out on the fun.

A little patience goes a long way. Chevy is now bringing the Multi-Flex Tailgate magic to the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD and Silverado 3500HD for the 2022 model year. That means, across all trims, you can add on the Multi-Flex Tailgate to your 2022 Chevrolet Silverado HD. You can also opt for the segment-exclusive Power Up/Down Tailgate on LT, LTZ, and High Country trim levels.

What Is the Multi-Flex Tailgate?

This cool technology allows for six unique uses for the tailgate, allowing you to use it as a workstation, load stop, and easier access point for cargo. The six functions are called inner gate load stop, inner gate with work surface, easy access (to bed), full-width step, primary gate (operating as traditional tailgate), and primary gate load stop.
